New eLearning: Data Protection in Nurseries
Data protection is an important aspect of everyday life in nurseries and early years settings. It is therefore essential that childcare professionals know what to consider. This not only ensures the necessary legal certainty in practice, but also allows for a more relaxed and professional approach to the topic of data protection.
Nurseries and their managing organisations should therefore develop a training concept that includes not only nursery managers but also all childcare staff. In practice, eLearning is an especially suitable method for knowledge transfer, as large numbers of people often need to be trained – and not all of them can be reached at the same time. The topics involved are also wide-ranging.
It’s not just about taking and using photos, for example for the website or during summer parties. There are many other questions to address: What data may be collected? How should proof of measles vaccination be handled? Are dental check-ups in nurseries actually voluntary? How should documents and portfolios be stored? What about lists and other records containing personal data? And is WhatsApp really banned? These are just a few of the many topics to be considered.
Our new eLearning course Data Protection in Nurseries Settings all of these questions and many more. You won't find dry paragraphs and legal articles here – instead, we focus on practical cases drawn from years of experience as external data protection officers for church-affiliated, public and private providers. This eLearning course is suitable across different types of providers, didactically considers possible variations in practice, and focuses on the most relevant questions nursery staff regularly face regarding data protection.
With our new eLearning, providers gain the ability to roll out data protection training on a wide scale with practical relevance. Thanks to our smart learning platform, which is included in the course fee, delivery of the course is as simple as possible. Even childcare staff without their own email address can participate, as the system includes not only email invitations but also personalised QR codes for access. This enables providers to fully meet their accountability obligations. The eLearning course itself doesn’t even require a PC – it is optimised for smartphones and tablets. To support learning, the course includes audio narration and optional subtitles.
