CAMPUSTAGE 2026: 10 Years of the GDPR – Thinking Ahead Together

A day full of inspiration, fresh perspectives and personal encounters: on 3 September 2026, the DSN Akademie held its sixth CAMPUSTAGE event at the datenschutz nord CAMPUS in Bremen’s Überseestadt district. This year’s event was held under the motto “10 Years of the GDPR – What Now? Thinking Ahead Together!”

And it was precisely this spirit of thinking ahead together that shaped the entire day, during the presentations and discussions, as well as in the breaks, at the discussion tables and in personal conversations with clients, colleagues and other guests.

10 Years of the GDPR – Time for New Perspectives

Ten years after the GDPR came into force, it has become an integral part of everyday life for many businesses and organisations. At the same time, the wider landscape has changed considerably: artificial intelligence is increasingly finding its way into business processes, cyber security requirements are growing, and new regulatory frameworks such as NIS2 and the Cyber Resilience Act are being introduced.

The CAMPUSTAGE 2026 programme was correspondingly diverse. Topics ranged from data protection and legal remedies to NIS2, AI, cyber security and data protection documentation. Once again, one thing became clear: today, data protection can hardly be considered in isolation. Legal, technical and organisational requirements, as well as information security, are becoming increasingly interconnected.

Expert Insights with a Practical Focus

Following the welcome reception on the CAMPUS, the conference programme began with a presentation on developments in legal remedies. Participants could then choose from several presentations taking place in parallel.

The focus was not only on legal requirements, but above all on practical questions: What does NIS2 mean for businesses in concrete terms? How can an information security management system be established and developed effectively? What role do certifications play? And how must existing data protection concepts evolve in the light of new technologies?

Artificial intelligence also featured prominently in the programme. Among the topics discussed was how organisations can move from individual AI applications and potential “shadow AI” towards a structured, holistic and legally compliant approach to the use of AI.

Further sessions explored Privacy by Design, the practical relevance of ISMS certifications, the Cyber Resilience Act and efficient data protection documentation.

Despite the wide range of topics, they were all linked by one central question: How can regulatory requirements be implemented in a way that actually works in day-to-day business?

Personal Exchange Makes the Difference

As important as the professional programme was, the personal encounters and conversations were once again among the highlights of CAMPUSTAGE for us this year.

We greatly appreciated the opportunity to exchange ideas with our clients, colleagues and all our other guests.

Many interesting conversations developed between the scheduled sessions. This direct exchange is particularly valuable to us. It shows us which issues genuinely matter to our clients, where uncertainties remain and where fresh perspectives are needed.

Thinking Ahead Together

CAMPUSTAGE 2026 once again demonstrated that, even after ten years of the GDPR, there is still more than enough to discuss, explore and develop further.

New technologies, increasing cyber security requirements and additional regulatory obligations ensure that data protection and information security remain dynamic fields. This makes sound expertise, practical solutions and open dialogue all the more important.
